To commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, producers of the national celebration sought to create an emotionally charged, immersive experience that honoured the legacy of journalism through the decades. The solution: BlackTrax, which elevated the production’s use of projection mapping, blending performance, movement, and multimedia.
The Challenge
The creative team behind the show “Steel Pen in the Red Fire” needed a dynamic way to visualize the historical journey of Vietnamese journalism from 1925 to 1954. The storytelling required an interplay between live performers, moving scenic elements, and projected visuals, all timed to perfection.
The Solution
BlackTrax was used to deliver real-time tracking, enabling the production to:
-
Accurately track moving objects such as dancers and props
-
Allow projectors to automatically align and adjust visuals to match every movement
-
Create a fluid connection between light, media, and performancers
The segment featured three mobile projection screens, each measuring 2.2 meters wide by 2.8 meters high, serving as canvases for storytelling. BlackTrax technology synchronized perfectly with projection systems and stage choreography, ensuring every image moved in lockstep with its target.
The result was a vivid and emotionally resonant performance, where imagery was projected directly onto mobile screens and moving performers, offering audiences a deeply engaging experience that blurred the lines between digital content and physical movement.
