wysiwyg R40 Update 1
Wysiwyg Lighting Design Release 40 Update 1 is available now! The new release introduces security improvements to help protect your investment along with great features and enhancements in every mode of wysiwyg: CAD, DESIGN, Plots and Reports, previsualization and protocols.
Features and Improvements

TRUSS MANAGER – ADD CUSTOM COLORS TO TRUSS ITEMS
The Truss Manager now has two new columns added to the table, Color Type and Color that are helpful when dealing with complex truss structures, allowing you to color code and assign each truss piece (name), for easy visual identification on your Truss drawings.

LIGHT EMISSION CONTROLS FOR OBJECTS IN DESIGN MODE
Directly from our users’ request, you can now control Light Emission for objects in DESIGN mode with our designer tools, allowing for objects with light emitting properties to be dynamically controlled with Looks, as they can be with DMX in LIVE mode.

SELECTING FIXTURES BY CLICKING INSIDE THE FIXTURE SYMBOLS
Previously, clicking on a fixture to select it in a Wireframe view required the user to click on the outline of the Fixture Symbol. In R40, you can now select a fixture by clicking within its symbol’s outline. (Note: there is no change for this in Isometric view, you need to click one of the model’s lines in order to select the fixture.)

RIGGING POINTS
Found under the Draw menu, a new Rigging Point object has been added to CAD mode, to identify hang points for the temporary rigging for your lighting designs. A Rigging Point can be represented by different symbols depending on their purpose (Lighting, Video, Audio, Scenic), and properties such as Symbol size and coordinates style (X, Y) or (X, Y, Z) can be set as you’d like.

MESSAGE CENTER
Message Center is a new feature which displays a dialog when wysiwyg opens. It is an in-application messaging system that allows CAST to deliver important messages to the user through the software. This feature is reserved for important technical messages and update announcements, tips about features, etc. Users need to have CEIP enabled in order to receive messages.

SOFTWARE UI TRANSLATIONS
With Release 40, Italian (italiano) is now an officially supported language. Select “italiano” from the Welcome Screen’s Options > Language menu, and restart the application. Then, wysiwyg menus and dialogs will be displayed in Italian, buon lavoro!

ALPHA BLENDING FOR SHADED VIEW CAMERAS
We’ve extended the Alpha Level support to Surfaces with transparency. Now when two surfaces with transparency levels are overlapping, they will be displayed accurately, as shown above (when Volumetric Beam technology and Alpha Beam Shadows features are enabled).

DOUBLE-CLICKING ON OBJECT OR FIXTURE WILL OPEN ITS PROPERTIES
For making it easier for everyone to open an object’s properties, you can now activate the dialog by double-clicking on an object or fixture in DESIGN mode and LIVE mode, in a Wireframe or Shaded view. To keep consistent, the same behavior carries into CAD mode, i.e. it will open the object’s properties window.

CODE SIGNING
The executable files for wysiwyg R40 have been signed with a digital certificate which will improve confidence when Windows prompts to allow the installer to run. The Publisher should be listed as: CAST Group of Companies Inc.

BATCH PRINTING IMPROVEMENT
When Batch Printing to PDF, wysiwyg offers the option to auto-select the paper size for print, if the “Use Layout Paper Size” option is enabled. For your convenience, the Paper Size and Landscape columns have been added to this dialog to provide you with some pertinent info.

MOTION CONTROL PROTOCOLS
Two new protocols have been added to wysiwyg’s Device Manager: PosiStageNet 2.0 from VYV and RTTrPM (the protocol used for streaming to third-party listeners that are interested in the position and orientation of a tracked person or object).

EXPORT IMAGES UP TO 8K RESOLUTION
When exporting a Panorama Image, if the video card memory detected can support a larger image resolution, a new 8192 x 4096 image resolution is added for the image resolution drop-down list.

HIGH-FREQUENCY STROBING IMPROVEMENT
There is an improvement in wysiwyg’s visualization to better handle high strobing frequency in LIVE mode. However, this issue is experienced differently on different video cards, AMD vs nVIDIA.

LOOKS COUNTDOWN
In Release 40, when cross fading between Looks, a countdown (of time remaining) will be displayed on Shaded View title header.
