

To draw arches in wysiwyg, you create a surface starting at the top of the arch and proceeding in a counter-clockwise direction.
In this procedure, you draw a series of “construction points” that define the shape of the arch, and then you use Point Snap to trace the surface that becomes the arch walls.
1. In CAD mode, Wireframe tab, click Draw > Venue > Black Box.
2. Accept the default venue size and click OK.
3. Click the Front view button.
4. Click the Point button.
5. Type -10,-15,0, and then press Enter.
Note: This procedure creates construction points at very specific locations; however, if desired, you can always move the arch later.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to continue creating construction points in this manner, typing the following values for each consecutive point:
- -10,-15,22
- 14,-15,22
- 14,-15,0
- 10,-15,0
- 10,-15,8
- 8,-15,14
- 6,-15,16
- 2,-15,18
- -2,-15,16
- -4,-15,14
- -6,-15,8
- -6,-15,0
When you are finished, your drawing should look something like this:
7. Click the Point Snap button to enable point snap.
Note: Ensure that no other snap is enabled.
8. Click the Surface tool.
9. Click on the point at the top of the arch to start drawing the surface, and then continue clicking on each consecutive point in a counter-clockwise direction until you arrive back at the first point, as shown in the following graphic:
10. When you are finished drawing the surface, right-click on the last point and select Finish Surface.
11. Delete all construction points.
Tip: To select each construction point without selecting the surface, draw a selection box around each point from left to right. This selects the point, but not the surface.
12. To give your arch some thickness, click on it to select it, and then right-click and select Tools > Extrude > Surfaces into Solids.
13. Type 2’ (or whatever thickness you want), and then click OK. Your arch should look something like this in Isometric view:
14. To add a texture to the arch, you must first break it into separate surfaces. Click on it to select it, and then right-click and select Tools > Break > Solids into Faces.
15. Since the arch is now broken into multiple surfaces, you will have to select all of the surfaces when applying the texture. Click the Plan view button.
16. Draw a selection box around the arch from left to right to select all surfaces at once.
17. On the Edit menu, click Object Properties.
18. Click the Appearance tab.
19. Under Elements, click Surface.
20. In the right pane, click Use Texture from Library.
21. In the Texture Select window, double-click Textures > Architecture, and then highlight Bricks 005 (or any other texture you want).
22. Click Select.
23. When you have applied the texture to all surfaces, the arch should look something like this:
