“Scattering” is a new feature in the Simulation tab of the View Options window in Shaded View. The “Scattering” slider enables and controls the simulation of light energy that deflects and scatters when passing through the imperfect medium of air filled with various particles/molecules. Light is deflected off of its straight path and scatters in many directions.
Use the “Scattering” slider to increase or decrease the scattering effect. When the “Scattering” slider is set to 0, no scattering effect is applied to the light beam. “Scattering” is enabled when the slider is set higher than 0, and the intensity of the light beam appears to vary when viewed from different angles. Scattering offers an enhanced level of realism in the Shaded View; with it enabled, beams that point towards the viewpoint (Camera) appear brighter than when they point away from it.
“Scattering” is only available when the Simulation Quality Mode is set to Volumetric.
