What’s New

NEW SKETCH STYLE FOR VIRTUAL VIEWS
The Sketch View Style, removes all color and shading from the Virtual View and causes all objects to appear hand-drawn or “sketched”, as can be seen in the sample image above. By default, this View Style provides a black-on-white look, but it can be inverted to white-on-black.

LINE PATTERNS ADDED TO 2D SHAPES
Line Patterns (i.e. Dotted, Dashed, etc. – which have always been available for Line objects) are now applicable to all other 2D shapes. To assign a different Line Pattern to a Rectangle, Circle, Ellipse, Arc or Elliptical Arc, access their Properties and click the last tab (labelled with the object type); for Polygons, click the Line tab.

SWITCH TO A STANDARD CAMERA BY RIGHT-CLICKING ON IT (IN THE VIRTUAL VIEW)
Standard Camera objects were added in Vivien 2020 to help visualize camera placements. It is now possible to switch to any such Camera by hovering over it in Virtual View and, once the object becomes highlighted, right-click and select “Switch to This Camera” from the pop-up menu that appears.

SET A MAXIMUM RESOLUTION FOR THE VIRTUAL VIEW
This option, found in the Virtual View’s View Options > General tab, allows you to set the maximum resolution at which a Virtual View will appear within the Virtual View layout tab, or within the Virtual Pane of the Drawing Quad, Lighting Quad, or Custom layout tabs. Its main purpose is to output the Virtual View (i.e. by recording it) at a specific resolution.

LIGHT EMISSION GLOW FOR INDIVIDUAL OBJECTS/ELEMENTS
The Light Emission Glow feature, introduced in Vivien 2020, can now be enabled or disabled per object or for objects’ individual Elements, by checking/unchecking the new Enable checkbox found in all applicable objects’ Properties > Light Emission tab.

DYNAMIC GROUP OUTLINE
When a Group is created, or when a Group is selected, a dashed outline appears automatically, encompassing all objects within that Group; this provides a visual indication that what’s selected is a Group – as opposed to an individual object. The colour of this outline is the same as the colour of the Layer that the Group belongs to. The outline disappears automatically when the Group is deselected or when the objects are Ungrouped.

THE TOOLBAR POSITIONS .WUD NOW INCLUDES ‘VISUAL’ APPLICATION OPTIONS
Vivien User Data (.VUD) files, which carry Toolbars’ locations now also carry the Appearance options set via the Application Options > General tab: Visual Theme, Toolbar Icon Size and Style, Ruler Style, Separators and the visibility of the Instruction Tooltip.

ADDITIONAL VIDEO FILE TYPES
.MKV, .MOV, .MP4 and .WMV video files may now be used as Video Sources in Vivien.
