Transparent textures has a lot of benefits and can help users achieve great effects in Vivien 2017.
In the example above, the trees and the beads curtain were not actually drawn in 3D, it is simply a flat surface with the texture of the tree and the beads curtain both with Alpha transparency.
Not only the effect works really well, it also saves design time and performance in Vivien.
When creating alpha textures, we recommend that Antialiasing should not be used when cutting out the transparent parts of the images. While antialiasing helps the edges of your image to look good, it might not give you the results you expect when shining a light through it.
In the next screenshot, there is a side by side comparison of the same texture with the left side not using Antialiasing while the right side used Antialiasing on the “Hello Alpha” texture. As you will notice, the lower-right corner of the screenshot has an unexpected outline around the letters.
