Your Dongle is your personal key
Your personalized, registered Dongle is your key to accessing wysiwyg or Vivien wherever you go. Plug into the USB port of any computer on which wysiwyg or Vivien is installed and you can open the software with all the rights according to your Membership, as imbedded on your Dongle. When you are ready for a higher level of wysiwyg, your Dongle is quickly and easily upgraded.
We have improved the security of our products. Using better encryption algorithms for our Dongles, we are protecting your investment and making wysiwyg or Vivien more difficult to be tampered with by hackers.
Part of the new security system is the new Dongle reauthorization program that will test your Dongle periodically to ensure it continues to meet our specifications, enable CAST to shut it down if it has been reported stolen, and allow us to provide you notice of important software updates.
What is a Dongle? Glad you asked.
A Dongle has two principal uses. First, (except for Demo Versions of the software for which a Dongle is not needed) a Dongle is the key and the only way you can open the Software each time you use it. The Dongle has dynamic imbedded information that controls what version and specific module or level of the Software you can open/use, as well as the expiry date of the Membership Period (which can be extended by renewing) or Lease Term (End Users can purchase additional Lease Terms) during which End Users may download Product Updates, Product Upgrades, and obtain technical support and other benefits. Secondly, a Dongle is a security device used by CAST to prevent unauthorized use of the Software and protects an End User's work as well as their investment in the Product.
From time to time, CAST polls and tests technical performance of each Dongle to assure that it meets CAST's standards, to validate and/or update each End User's Product Registration Information for security purposes, and/or amend the security protocol imbedded on it.
Finally, by interaction with CAST, it is possible to upgrade or downgrade the License, and add Membership Periods or Lease Terms so that End Users continue to be entitled to receive future Product Updates, technical support and other benefits available only for End Users with Valid Memberships.
How does CAST keep track of your Dongle and help you keep it secure? When you purchase or lease software from CAST, you are asked to complete the Product Registration Information or PRI - it is vital that this data form be fully completed and accurate as a condition of the EULA. The PRI also serves to collect general Contact Information about/from potential customers when they request access to certain areas in the website and information. You will be required to confirm or update the PRI as a condition precedent to initialization of the Software which conditions are also a requirement for renewing Membership Periods, adding Lease Terms, as well as accessing any entitlement to Members' Benefits.
Further, the PRI includes information about each Dongle and its respective Software (level, Release, Stepping dates) and that their rights, such as the ability to access certain areas of the CAST website and/or obtain certain discounts or other benefits for Members, depend on the accuracy and currency of the PRI. The PRI is kept private and confidential, and is only used by CAST as record of each Customer's entitlements and benefits should their Dongle fail, or it is stolen or lost.
Lost or stolen Dongle PolicyYour Dongle is your property. If your Dongle is lost or stolen CAST will not replace it free of charge.
If you are a Valid Member and your Dongle is lost or damaged, you must purchase a new Dongle and CAST will initialize the replacement Dongle to the same Product, Level and Release Number as per CAST's records in accordance with your PRI.
Otherwise, if your Dongle is lost and you are not a current Member or Lessee, or if your PRI is incomplete, then you must purchase a new Dongle and CAST, in its sole discretion, may require you to also purchase or lease a replacement software licence.
If you are changing your Dongle hardware platform or if your Dongle is broken, CAST Software will replace your Dongle for a fee. You will be required to ship your Dongle back to CAST before the replacement Dongle is sent to you.

A Dongle is the hardware device, which meets the technical and operating specifications as set and/or changed from time to time by CAST, that is required to operate wysiwyg or Vivien. A Dongle is usually shipped with each initial purchase or lease of the license for the software. The initial purchase or Lease Term of a License includes the purchase of a Dongle which remains your property. A Dongle may be exchanged if it fails to meet the technical specifications or operating performance as set by CAST.
